Property Acquisition
NDOT’s mission is to provide, operate, and preserve a transportation system that enhances safety, quality of life and economic development through innovation, environmental stewardship and a dedicated workforce. At times, it is necessary for NDOT to acquire private property to improve the transportation system. The rights of the property owners and occupants are protected by both state and federal laws.

For the Downtown Access Project, NDOT will not be able to determine the exact property impacts until a preferred alternative is selected and approved and the design has progressed to 60%, which is projected to occur in 2026. Based on 10% design plans, NDOT has evaluated potential property impacts in each proposed build alternative.
