Community Engagement Efforts to Date

Community engagement for the Downtown Access Project started in January 2019 (before the project had a name), with the first stakeholder group meeting. Since then, the team has focused on grassroots outreach to residents and businesses along the project corridor. These efforts include:

“boots on the ground”

efforts in the neighborhoods adjacent to the freeway

with 3D visualizations and interactive map to help the public understand the proposed designs and project elements

Social media accounts for the project –

Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter

focus groups with residents living near the project corridor;

with commuters

phone surveys to gather input on the project

members of the community receiving regular emails with project information and updates

Community Interactions

Direct interaction with members of the community allows the project team to better understand the community’s history and hopes for the future.
