Design Alternatives: North

The north alternative proposes to remove the existing bridges and rebuild the freeway at a similar elevation on dirt/embankment. The north alternative shifts the freeway slightly to the north through the downtown area. Click on the exhibit to open a high resolution pdf version.

This exhibit shows the difference between the north alternative (shown in blue) and the south alternative (shown in yellow) adjacent to the downtown area.

Map showing all three alternative footprints and how they differ.

This cross section shows the mainline (primary travel lanes) and the collector-distributor (CD) road elevated above ground level with the ramps going down to ground level to meet the surface streets.

Typical section of north/south alternative.

This video shows a fly through animation of the north alternative. The freeway goes over the surface streets, like we have today, but much of the freeway is built on dirt rather than a continuous bridge.
