Design Alternatives: South

The south alternative proposes to remove the existing bridges and rebuild the freeway at a similar elevation with large sections on dirt/embankment. The south alternative is similar to north except it shifts the freeway slightly to the south through the downtown area. Click on the exhibit to open a high resolution pdf version.

This cross section shows the mainline (primary travel lanes) and the collector-distributor (CD) road elevated above ground level with the ramps going down to ground level to meet the surface streets.

Typical section of north/south alternative.

This video shows a fly through animation of the south alternative.

The freeway goes over the surface streets, like we have today, but much of the freeway is built on dirt rather than a continuous bridge.
